Summary: Wonderful, spacious beachfront cottage with a rustic feel, comfortable, lots of windows which let in natural light and provide amazing water views from many rooms. Chris manages the property extremely well. We will definitely rent there again if we have the opportunity.

Summary: My family and I stayed in this charming cottage in cottage. It was a beautiful location with easy beach access (down a private short path) with all needed amenities. Our daughters loved being steps from the water and the charming hammock in the backyard. They also loved being so close to Percy's Store that they could ride their bikes there to change ice and whatever necessities we needed to pick up. Although we have been coming to Popham Beach for 5 years, this was our first stay in this section of the beach, which was right near North and South Sugarloaf Islands. We enjoyed the local wildlife, including several seals and a bald eagle. Chris was great to communicate with in terms of the rental and advance information. He made himself accessible during our stay and checked with us a couple times during our stay. We had a very positive experience and can't wait to come back next year!

Summary: My family and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Chris' cottage in Popham. We have stayed at many places on Popham Beach and found this to be much more than advertised. A quaint gem with lots of character, we will be missing the almost solitude feeling of this cottage, along with its convenience to the one and only Popham Beach. The family memories that we created here though will never be lost! The cottage layout was perfect for our family of 5, providing a large open and spacious kitchen and living area and cozy sleeping upstairs - the bed in the alcove was a hit for our youngest daughter :). The location of the cottage is perfect, as walking on the beach it is about half way between Percy's General Store and the point of the beach near Wood Island. Chris was a gracious host, making the experience seamless with his friendly and open communications. We cannot wait to stay at this cottage again! - The Wood Family (from Brooklyn, NY)

Summary: My husband and I JUST left Sugarloaf cottage and was so happy with our stay there!! Popham Beach is our favorite vacation destination, and Chris and his lovely cottage made it more enjoyable. The cottage is well stocked with everything we needed. In fact next year we will only have to bring half what we packed this year. Chris is responsive: called when we arrived, again the day before departure and made himself available to us during our stay. We had our children and grandchildren visit and everyone loved it.....was echoed in the small voices of my grand-babies "but Mimi, I don't want to go home". I have to say I agreed with them!!!

Summary: My husband and I thoroughly enjoy Charming and have been staying here for the past few years. This cottage is nestled along the mouth of the Kennebec River which spills into the open ocean. The cottage offers a laid back atmosphere which is extremely relaxing with fantastic views ranging from islands to lighthouses - and of course the ocean. You can spend your time watching the waves from the porch, watching a few seals swim by or stroll to the beach. Popham Beach is known for its fantastic sprawling beach which is perfect for long walks and jogging. My husband prefers fishing along the river/ocean as well as golfing at a local club about 15 minutes away. Kayaking also offers an additional adventure. You can hire a guide and rent locally. The cottage is captivating with a rustic Maine history and additional fun fact that a famous movie was filmed here. The owners are wonderful and take very good care of the property. The house is very clean and comfortable. It's all about the beach, and enjoying a kicked back no stress vacation. Don’t forget to take in the night air and the incredible views of the stars. The views alone are worth a 5 star rating.

Summary: This is a wonderful property located literally on Popham Beach. The cottage has modern amenities (cable tv, wifi, etc.) but maintains a very rustic charm. It has plenty of room for a family not to feel confined and lots of windows for ocean breezes and views. My teen daughter and I spend a week here for her birthday and just loved it. As with any cottage near the ocean, there are pros and cons, non of which we found a problem. PROS: -- on the beach, within walking distance to the local restaurant Spinney's (very good serving B, L, D) -- kitchen has everything you need + a washer and dryer -- a separate tv room with a door to shut out kids if you need to :-) -- the beach is long and flat and perfect for small kids and walking your dog -- property manager was very responsive and a pleasure to deal with CONS: -- water has very metallic smell when showering (common with oceanfront properties with a well) -- must bring and use bottled water for drinking and cooking (again, not really an issue) -- neighbors are very sweet but so close next door that when they're home you can hear everything -- property outside (porch furniture) is not comfortable and is a bit run down - when we arrived it was covered in dust, pollen, and spider webs. We just took a hose to it all and was fine, but the cleaning crew needs to step this up a bit. Overall, it's a great spot to make memories with your loved ones. If you like "authentic" then this is the place.

Summary: The house in Maine was just the perfect place for our family vacation. Its location right on the beach, the surrounding but also the interior was more than satisfying and we would be more than happy to travel half around the world from Berlin, Germany all the way to Popham Beach, Maine to come back there.
